FAQs

  • What’s the easiest way to get to and from your wedding venue?
We recommend staying at the hotel listed on our site. Let us know once you have booked your room, and we’ll arrange your transport to and from each event.

  • Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?
The events are all open-air. The first 2 events are open-air with covered structures. The Cocktail Party is on a 10th story rooftop with gorgeous city views, so it’ll be a lot breezier.

  • What will the weather be like?
Bangalore is warm and pleasant in February, with temps anywhere from 60.8F to 86 F and chance of light rain. That said, since the events are open-air, you might want to carry a shawl in case it’s breezy at night.

  • What’s the dress code? Can I get Indian clothes to wear for the wedding?
The dress code is listed under each event. For Indian clothes, there are some online shops in the US (check links here). If you’d like to get a saree or kurta in Bangalore, please let us know in advance and we’ll help you shop 1-2 days before Feb 22nd. For any other questions, reach out to Vaish directly. :)

  • If I bring a saree, will someone help me drape it?
Sarees are stunning, but intimidating when you don’t know how to wear 6 yards of fabric. Don’t worry though, we’ll have someone to help you drape your saree. Just let Vaish know well in advance so that you’re all set.

  • Can we take photos/videos at the wedding?
Absolutely! Indian weddings are very social. You’ll notice most guests floating around during the ceremony, talking and taking lots of photos/videos throughout. If you post any, please tag us at @husbertandwifenavi on Instagram so we can see it too!

  • What can we expect for food at the wedding?
The first 2 events will be Indian vegetarian food, and the cocktail will have a variety of veg & non-veg food. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance and we will try to accommodate you as best as we can.

  • When does the Wedding event end? Will there be an afterparty?
On Feb 23rd, the wedding day ends by 2pm. There is no afterparty that evening, but you can definitely go out and explore the city on your own.

  • Where do we eat/drink in the city?
Bangalore is proudly known for 2 things: great beer and great weather. We have a wide array of breweries, gastropubs and restaurants in the area and nearby (see here). You can also order food through apps like Zomato and Swiggy. You can use your credit card, pay by cash or GooglePay.

  • What kind of clothes should I bring?
February will be pleasant, on the warmer side. We recommend comfy clothes – cotton tops, linens, loose pants, comfy footwear.

  • What do I do for Indian Rupee (INR) currency?
We recommend converting USD into Indian Rupees and carrying cash. There are currency exchange desks at Bangalore airport, so you can do this once you land. Most establishments also accept foreign credit cards.

  • What about language barriers?
Most people know English. All the signs are in English, so you won’t feel losts. Use Google Translate in case you need to understand Kannada, or call Vaish if you need help communicating.

  • Things to know, and Do’s and Don’ts?

    • WhatsApp is widely used in India, so please download it before your arrival. It’s also easier and cheaper to make free calls over Wi-Fi or data using WhatsApp, rather than intl’ roaming calls. We will be using WhatsApp groups to share updates with you throughout the weekend.

    • Do not drink tap water, it’s not drinkable in India. Always ask for “bottled water” or “mineral water.” Avoid uncooked food (raw veggies, salads, cut fruit) at restaurants and street food from carts.

    • Avoid walking on public streets late in the evenings/night. Be mindful of your pockets/belongings in very crowded areas.

    • In tourist areas, you may find autorickshaw drivers or solicitors offering rides/tours/photographs for a fee. These are usually scams, so ignore them. Ask us if you need help with sightseeing!

  • What’s the best way to get around the city?
Apps like Uber and Ola are widely used and easy to get around — you can even book an auto rickshaw through Ola! Let us know if you prefer having one driver and we can recommend one for you to hire. You can also hire a driver through your hotel.

  • What’s there to do around Bangalore?
Lots! Bangalore is known as the Garden City of India. It used to be a lot greener, but the city has expanded heavily. That said, we have two gorgeous parks right in the middle of the city, lots of history, historic temples & churches, museums (a summer palace, anyone?), art galleries, heritage walks, great shopping, and lots of breweries & gastropubs. Here’s a list of places we recommend!
